Akasa Air introduces in-flight safety manual in Braille for visually impaired travelers

Akasa Air has introduced an in-flight safety manual in Braille for passengers with visual impairments. The manual, which was developed in partnership with The Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC), is available in English and Hindi and provides detailed instructions on seat belt operation, emergency exits, and life jackets, as well as tactile diagrams to help orient passengers to the aircraft and its positions.

The manual is provided to passengers upon request. Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer of Akasa Air, stated that the Braille manual is a testament to the company’s commitment to being “socially cohesive with a focus on being dependable, warm, efficient, and reliable.

” Taraporevala, Executive Director of XRCVC, praised Akasa Air’s efforts towards inclusivity.

In addition to the Braille manual, Akasa Air has placed a firm order for 72 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes, which are powered by fuel-efficient LEAP-1B engines and known for their ability to reduce fuel use and carbon emissions.

The airline aims to have the youngest and most environmentally friendly fleet in the Indian skies.
